Rebrand for solicitors firm founded in 18th century
Henley’s oldest firm of solicitors has a new look. Cooper Son & Caldecott, which was established in 1741, has been renamed Cooper Solicitors.
The West Street company has written to more than 2,500 clients informing them of the change and its new motto, Keeping you ahead”. The firm’s new logo features crossed blades, recognising its connection with Henley Royal Regatta.
John Cooper, one of the founders of the business, was a prime mover in the inauguration of the regatta in 1838.
Senior partner Toby Greenwood, who has been with the firm since 1978, explained that the change came after an offer from a client. He said: “Michael Green, the man who launched the Haagen Dazs ice cream brand, was pleased with the way we handled some business for him and offered to spend a day helping us with our marketing. “We had lunch at Hotel du Vin and after a couple of bottles of wine we had a strategy and set to work. It took a lot of effort but we finally managed to rebrand last Friday. We have received a very positive response from our customers who have written in with glowing reports of the new-look company.”
Mr Greenwood specialises in property work and is supported by two partners, Stephen Bucknill and Kate Corris. Outside work, he plays for Turville Cricket Club, sings with the South Chiltern Choral Society and is a trustee of the Face of Henley charity. Mr Bucknill joined the company in 1992 and deals with wills, probate and trust work as well as property. Ms Corris joined in 2007 and has more than 16 years’ experience as a dedicated private client solicitor.
